Police have arrested a man over a hit-and-run collision in which a toddler was left fighting for life.
The 23-year-old, from Rotherham, was arrested just hours after police issued CCTV images of three motorbikes and four riders they want to trace over the collision on Ridgeway, East Herringthorpe, Rotherham, on July 3.
The man has been bailed pending further inquiries.
Olivia Pollard, aged three, was crossing Ridgeway with her mum Jessica, 20, when they were hit by a pack of bikes.
The riders involved failed to stop at the scene, leaving Olivia with serious head and eye injuries, cuts and bruises.
She was airlifted to Sheffield Children’s Hospital but has since been discharged and is recovering at home.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police have arrested a 23-year-old man from the Rotherham area on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.”
