DETECTIVES investigating a shooting in Sheffield have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 23-year-old is being questioned by South Yorkshire Police this morning.

He was arrested after a 22-year-old Sheffield man was shot in his hand and arm in Burngreave on Tuesday night.

Police were alerted to the incident after he turned up at hospital with gunshot wounds.

Chief Inspector Iain Chorlton said: “Following further enquiries and information received from the public, we have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder, he is currently in custody assisting the police with their enquiries.”

The gun attack on Burngreave Road happened between 7pm and 7.30pm on Tuesday and officers investigating want to speak to anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious.
