A SHEFFIELD plumber has been arrested as part of a Revenue & Customs crackdown on tax evasion.

The tradesman, who has not been named, was been quizzed as part of an ongoing investigation by HM Revenue & Customs before being bailed pending further enquiries.

John Pointing, Assistant Director, of HMRC’s Criminal Investigation Unit, said: “Earlier this year HMRC announced a clampdown on plumbers, gas fitters, heating engineers and other trades people who failed to declare their earnings and pay the correct tax.”
