A DOG which attacked two much-loved pet animals on a Sheffield street - costing one of the dogs their life - is still being held in a secure kennel pending the outcome of a police probe.
The dog, described by witnesses as a pit bull terrier- type, launched two attacks as it roamed the streets of Firth Park while Josie Dickens walked her pets.
Mrs Dickens said the loose dog attacked two of her three pets - 16-year-old Dee Dee and 11-year-old Taz.
A passer-by pulled the savage dog away after the first attack, and a woman chased it away with a stick when it launched its second assault.
But Dee Dee was so badly injured a vet later had to put him to sleep.
Police traced the owner of the dog and an investigation is under way.
