Jurors in the Alan Greaves murder trial in Sheffield are expected to be sent out today to begin their deliberations.

Ashley Foster, aged 22, is standing trial at Sheffield Crown Court accused of murdering Mr Greaves - a 68-year-old church organist - on Christmas Eve.

Foster, of Wesley Road, High Green, is accused of being involved in an attack on Mr Greaves as he walked to St Saviour’s Church, close to his home, for a midnight service.

The pensioner was attacked with a pick axe handle and another weapon, possibly a hammer.

Jonathan Bowling, 22, of Carwood Way, Pitsmoor, has already admitted murdering the grandfather.
