A CAR dumped in a pond in a Sheffield park is believed to have been stolen by joyriders.

The car was found by dog walker Sandra Hibbert, aged 67, of Norton Lees, who saw it submerged in the pond in Graves Park yesterday morning.

The retired newsagent said it appeared to have crashed - its bumper was strewn upside down next to the car and the driver’s window was smashed.

Mrs Hibbert said: “I saw the car and then when I looked around at the grass there were tyre marks all over it. It looks like whoever dumped it had been driving around all over the place beforehand.

“The park is going to be used by lots of people over the Easter weekend so it is a shame for people to be faced with this.”

“I feel sorry for the owner - it may be they left it at the park overnight after the gates were closed only for this to happen.”
