A bodybuilder stabbed his ex-girlfriend to death in a ‘severe and sustained’ attack because he could not accept their relationship was over, an inquest heard.
‘Obsessive’ Simon Hall told his lover he would kill his former partner Gabrielle Stanley, aged 28, so ‘no-one else’ could have her.
Gabrielle was brutally knifed to death at the home she had shared with steroid user Hall, aged 36, on October 26 last year.
She sustained 30 stab wounds and died at Doncaster Royal Infirmary later that night.
Hall was also found dead at the scene and a post mortem revealed the cause of death to be hanging.
An inquest at Doncaster Crown Court heard Gabrielle split up with Hall six weeks before her death because of his infidelity and continued steroid abuse.
Despite giving her space to begin with, Hall started to obsessively try and win her back – and even threatened suicide to get her round to his house, the inquest heard.
Katie Wath, with whom Hall had been having an affair, noticed his behaviour change in the weeks before the killing.
A statement from Miss Wath said: “Simon was a jealous man. He told me after the split ‘No-one else can have Gabs, I’m going to kill Gabs’.”
On the night of her death Gabrielle visited Hall to discuss buying him out of their home.
At 10pm, neighbours heard a woman screaming for help and one saw Gabrielle’s body being dragged inside.
Recording a verdict of unlawful killing, coroner Nicola Mundy said Hall realised Gabrielle was in another relationship and his hopes of reconciliation would come to nothing.
She recorded a verdict of suicide for Simon Hall.
