TWO burglars have been jailed for a raid in which their victim returned home to find the crooks inside her house.

Paul Eyre, aged 40, and Jason Mullins, 43, broke into a property on Manchester Road, Sheffield, when the house was empty.

However, as they searched the house on Monday, September 3, the owner returned to find them inside.

She tried to detain them, and there was a short struggle, but they eventually ran off.

They were arrested after police received a number of calls from members of the public reporting two men running away.

Eyre, of Adkins Road, Southey Green, and Mullins, of Armitage Road, Deepcar, were both found guilty at Sheffield Crown Court, with Eyre sentenced to seven years behind bars and Mullins six.

Temporary Detective Sergeant Matthew Mellor said: “The two men were arrested and brought to justice thanks to members of the local community reporting suspicious activity to the police.”
