DETECTIVES investigating riots at Doncaster Prison have finished their investigation and handed over a dossier of evidence to prosecutors.

The Crown Prosecution Service is now analysing the findings to decide whether anyone is to face charges.

There were three riots at HMP Moorland, Hatfield Woodhouse, Doncaster, in November last year. Rampaging inmates trashed cells, offices and communal areas.

Detectives compiled a list of 102 suspects. Det Insp Dave Mayfield said: “Our investigation into the riots at Moorland prison last November is now reaching an end. This has been a lengthy investigation with many suspects identified and interviewed.

“The files have now been passed over to the Crown Prosecution Service for consideration and advice on who will face charges.”
