Burglars have broken into homes in Sheffield to steal the keys of high-value cars parked outside.
A black Porsche Boxster convertible and a blue Volkswagen Golf were taken from Trap Lane, Ecclesall, and a grey BMW 5 series car was stolen from Studfield Crescent, Wisewood.
The thieves in Ecclesall struck sometime between 12.45am and 7.10am yesterday.
They forced the locks on rear patio doors and searched downstairs rooms before taking the keys for the vehicles and driving them away.
Both vehicles have since been recovered from a car park at Fielder Mews, near Shiregreen, Sheffield.
Police said the BMW was stolen after burglars damaged a lock on a rear door to force their way inside.
The culprit or group involved is believed to have sneaked to the targeted house through a neighbour’s garden.
The ground floor of the house was searched before the car keys were found.
The vehicle, containing around £140 worth of fuel, was taken and has not yet been recovered.
A police probe into both burglaries and thefts is now under way.
Specialist scenes of crimes officers examined both homes targeted by the thieves.
The recovered Porsche and Volkswagen have also been examined to help police track down those involved.
