A HANG glider pilot who died when he crashed into the western face of Mam Tor, above Castleton, has been officially named.

Terry Rice, aged 52, of Upton, Wirral, died last Thursday when he crash-landed while gliding in Derbyshire.

Despite the efforts of medics and mountain rescue team volunteers, who battled to save him, he later died in hospital. An investigation is being carried out by the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association on behalf of the Air Accidents Investigation Branch of the Department of Transport.
