Guard hurt in attack on train

A POLICE probe is underway into an attack on a train as it travelled through South Yorkshire.

British Transport Police are looking for witnesses to the incident, in which a train guard was attacked by a passenger.

The attack happened onboard the 19.35 Newcastle to Birmingham New Street service at it travelled between Doncaster and Sheffield on Thursday, November 22.

The guard was pushed to the floor as he was checking tickets. A man allegedly came running down the aisle towards him.

A 27-year-old man from Woodhouse, Sheffield, was arrested and has been bailed pending further inquiries.
