Little Charlotte Yeardley’s summer has ended on a downward spiral - after her seven foot-long slide was stolen from her garden.
Charlotte, aged eight, had been given the bright pink slide by her grandparents as a present for her seventh birthday last year, and had specially customised the slide with her own Disney Princess stickers.
But now the little girl is starting back with sadness at Hinde House School for a new term - after the slide was stolen from the garden of her home in Clover Gardens, Wincobank.
Mum Lexie Ainsbury, aged 29, said: “She is really upset.
“She keeps looking in the garden and crying asking where her slide has gone.
“It was a birthday present from her grandparents last year.
“We don’t have a lot of money.
“She loved using it as a slide into the paddling pool.”
The slide was taken a week ago, on either the evening of Tuesday, August 26, or the early hours of August 27.
“We woke up and her dad noticed the garden gate was open and the slide wasn’t there,” said Lexie.
“It is a seven foot slide - you think someone would have seen something.
“It’s not exactly something that you can take easily without being noticed.
“The thing that gets me is we think it has probably been taken and sold as scrap metal. But we have a metal washing pole in the garden which can easily be moved and they left that behind.”
Lexie, who is also mum to Aiden, aged 22 months, said the slide had been used regularly by Charlotte and her brother Joel, six, during the summer holidays.
