Friends and relatives are preparing to say their final goodbyes to a Sheffield man killed as he walked home from work.
Simon Holdsworth, of Westfield Avenue, Hackenthorpe, was attacked after getting off a bus after a shift at FBS Prestige, Intake, where he worked as a paint sprayer.
The 36-year-old was walking the last part of his journey home, to the house he shared with his partner Carleen McKeown and her four-year-old son Tiarnan, when he was attacked.
His body was discovered behind a hedge in a field off Birley Spa Lane on Tuesday, December 17.
Mr Holdsworth’s funeral is to be held at St Joseph’s RC Church, Handsworth, on Friday, at 11.30am. It will be followed by cremation at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium at 12.30pm.
A 45-year-old Sheffield man arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed pending further inquiries.
Detectives want to hear from anyone who may know of anyone with a grudge against Mr Holdsworth in the hope of helping them establish a motive for the attack.
