An on-the-run criminal who escaped from prison is back behind bars today after being tracked down by police in Sheffield.
Darrell Burbeary, aged 43, absconded from HMP Hatfield in Doncaster on Sunday, June 15 and went to ground.
But the fugitive took time to write and post a letter to The Star during his time on the run, pointing out that South Yorkshire Police had issued incorrect information in an appeal for help in tracing him - criticising the force for describing him as being from Heeley, claiming he is actually from the Manor area.
Burbeary was serving a 30-month jail sentence for burglary, imposed last year, when he absconded.
He was tracked down to a house in Skye Edge on Monday afternoon and tried to evade capture again by running off and hiding in a shed in a nearby garden.
Police sealed off the area, arrested him and returned him to prison.
