A WOMAN has been fined £255 for two counts of failing to clear up after her dog.
Lesley Hicks, aged 46, of Glenville Close, Hoyland, Barnsley, admitted the two offences and initially received two £50 fixed penalty notices.
It was agreed she could pay in £10 instalments but she only ever made one, leading Barnsley Council to pursue the matter through the courts.
She was fined £60 for each offence and asked to pay a contribution towards the council’s costs.
Coun Roy Miller, Cabinet spokesperson for Development, Environment and Culture, said: “Not clearing up after your dog has fouled is a crime - dog fouling can cause serious illness and is a blight on our streets and parks.”
