Firefighters tackle series of arson attacks across South Yorkshire

Firefighters dealt with a series of arson attacks across South Yorkshire over the weekend.

In the early hours of Saturday crews were called to Edgewell Drive, Fox Hill, Sheffield, to deal with a blaze involving a Ford Focus on a driveway outside a house.

Flames from the fire, which was discovered at 2am, damaged the outside of the property.

A man, woman and two children in the house escaped unharmed.

At 8am that morning a Renault Clio was set alight on Hartington Road, Mexborough and at 10pm that night a transit van was torched on Halesworth Road, Handsworth.

In the early hours of Sunday firefighters were also called out to deal with a Renault Clio found alight on Bird Avenue, Wombwell and a Ford Focus set alight 10 minutes later on nearby Hemingfield Road.
