Convicted rapist Ched Evans is tipped to sign a deal to return to Sheffield United when he is on ‘day release’ from prison this summer.
The former Blades striker, jailed for five years in 2012 for rape, is due to be integrated back into the community over the summer ahead of his official release in October.
It is reported that he is due to meet Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough and chairman Kevin McCabe in July to discuss signing a new contract.
Evans was United’s top scorer and player of the year in the season that he was jailed.
The Welsh international was found guilty after a trial of raping a 19-year-old woman in a hotel room in Rhyl following a night out.
He admitted having sex with the woman but the prosecution case was that she was too drunk to consent.
Sheffield United has not confirmed the reports.
