A MOTORIST was taken to hospital with a facial injury and arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a collision in Sheffield city centre.
The 27-year-old was driving a Peugeot 206 along Suffolk Road when his vehicle was involved in a collision with a taxi.
Firefighters had to free the Peugeot driver from his car, which was on its side when crews arrived.
He was taken to the Northern General Hospital, along with a woman passenger.
The taxi driver escaped from the collision unharmed.
Emergency services were alerted to the collision at 1.25am yesterday.
Police closed the road until around 3am while emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the smash and officers investigated the circumstances.
