A drunken mother waved a carving knife about in the street after her windows were put through, a court heard.
Patricia While, aged 44, confronted the family she wrongly thought was responsible for the vandalism – leaving Heather Dewberry and her toddler daughter fearing for their safety.
A neighbour intervened in the fracas in Hunt Lane, Bentley, and While went back into her home.
While, of High Street, Conisbrough, admitted possessing an offensive weapon at Sheffield Crown Court.
Michael Caine-Soothill, defending, said just before last Christmas she moved to Hunt Lane and had difficulties with other residents.
“Whilst it must have been frightening to others there was no real attempt to cause harm to anyone with that weapon,” he said.
She was handed a four-month jail term suspended for a year, supervision and ordered to attend an alcohol treatment programme.
