Detectives investigating two assaults on women in Sheffield are renewing their appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The women were both dragged to the ground by a man in the Collegiate Crescent area, off Ecclesall Road, at around 8.30am on Saturday morning.

Both incidents occurred within minutes of each other and police believe they were linked.

The attacker ran off on both occasions after his victims shouted for help.

Extra police officers have been deployed to the area in a bid to reassure residents.

Detective Inspector Richard Partridge, leading the investigation, said: “I am seriously concerned about the actions of this man and the risk that he poses.

“We believe these assaults have a sexual motive, so we’ve increased the visible policing presence to reassure the local community.

“While thankfully neither woman was seriously hurt, we are urging anyone with information to come forward.

“This includes any information about incidents of a similar nature that may have occurred previously.”

The suspect is black and possibly aged in his 20s.

He was wearing dark clothing when he struck.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident number 351 of August 2.

Crimestoppers can also be contacted on 0800 555111.
