Detectives investigating an arson attack on a Sheffield restaurant have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Police were called in to investigate after firefighters were called to the Jinnah Indian Restaurant, The Common, in the early hours of Friday.

The restaurant had suffered severe fire damage on the ground floor and smoke damage throughout.

Three members of staff who live above the restaurant managed to escape.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The restaurant sustained extensive damage to the conservatory area, and smoke damage throughout.

“Officers are treating the fire as arson, and an investigation is under way.

“Officers are keeping an open mind about the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
