More police officers in Derbyshire have set up Twitter accounts to keep residents up to date with crime issues in their communities
Officers in Creswell, Shirebrook, Tibshelf, Clowne and Pleasley are now using Twitter to keep in touch with residents while they are out on the streets.
More than 50 Safer Neighbourhood policing teams across Derbyshire now have their own Twitter accounts, where they share details of daily patrols, operations they take part in and offer crime prevention advice.
They also make appeals for information about local crimes.
Inspector Frank Burns, who covers Bolsover, said: “Officers can engage with the residents, especially those who might not want to attend a police surgery or meeting.”
