Complaints to police body

A TOTAL of 419 complaints was recorded against South Yorkshire Police last year according to figures released by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

The complaints contained 786 allegations and 83 appeals to the IPCC - the police watchdog - about the way South Yorkshire Police handled complaints.

Of the appeals, 65 were followed up and 21 upheld.

Nationally 6,339 appeals from complainants were made to the IPCC.
