Two men are being hunted by police over the robbery of a trainee minister, who was threatened and had his mobile phone stolen.

Police said the 25-year-old victim was targeted in the underpass below the roundabout at the junction of St Mary’s Gate and Bramall Lane.

He was robbed by two men at 12.15am on Monday, with one of them reported to have threatened to stab him.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “A trainee minister was threatened and had his mobile phone stolen.

“He was in the underpass below the roundabout at the junction of St Mary’s Gate and Bramall Lane when he became aware of two men following him.

“When they left the underpass, one of the men reportedly threatened to stab the victim, who then handed over his HTC Desire smartphone.

“Anyone who recognises the men in the CCTV images should call the police.”
