a WOMAN who illegally claimed state hand-outs while she was working has been ordered to pay back the money.
Nancy Frith, aged 42, received over £1,500 while failing to notify the authorities she actually had a job.
She continued to claim income support, housing benefit and council tax benefit, and ended up with £1,519 to which she was not entitled between March and August last year.
Frith, of Priestley Avenue, Mickley, North Derbyshire, pleaded guilty and received a 12-month conditional discharge - on the provision she pays back the cash she illegally claimed.
She was also ordered to pay £100 costs when she appeared at North East Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates’ Court.
Speaking after the hearing, Coun Pat Kerry said: “We’re continually investigating suspected benefit cheats - this is the fourth prosecution in recent weeks and should send out a strong warning.”
