THE boss of a charity under investigation over its finances has hit back to clear its name.
The Barnsley Black and Ethnic Minority Initiative is the subject of a police probe after Barnsley Council raised concerns over its ‘governance and financial administration’ and withdrew its financial and board level support.
Today Dr Vladimer Sanadze, chairman of the charity which works to ensure ‘full involvement’, criticised the council for refusing to tell the charity what its concerns are.
He said: “The council has never raised any concerns about financial management nor about governance. The council, during the last year, has never talked with us about any wrongdoing at all.
“If the council thinks the project failed, which was supported for more than 10 years by the council, Barnsley residents and ethnic minorities need a good explanation.”
