Detectives investigating the thefts from two women at cashpoints in Sheffield city centre have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace.

An unknown man approached a 71-year-old woman at a cashpoint in the HSBC bank in Fargate, at about 10.30am on Wednesday, July 22.

As the pensioner was withdrawing money the man distracted her and took her card from the machine.

A sum of money was later withdrawn from her bank account.

Around 20 minutes later, a 62-year-old woman was at a cash point in Church Street when she was approached by a man as she put her card into the machine. He snatched her card from the machine and fled the scene.

The woman later discovered her card had been used at another cashpoint to withdraw money.

Police believe the man in the images may hold vital information.
