Cars set alight in spate of arson attacks across county

Firefighters dealt with a series of car blazes all started deliberately over the weekend.

At 4.20am on Saturday crews were alerted to a fire on Rowsley Street, Highfield, and found a Hyundai I10 engulfed in flames.

At 9.05am that day they were called to Royds Lane, Elsecar, and found a Ford Orion burning.

They also dealt with a Suzuki found burning on Daresbury Drive, Arbourthorne and a car found alight in a field off The Parkway, near to the junction for Price of Wales Road.

A shed was set alight in an arson attack on Bly Road, Darfield, Barnsley and a wheelie bin was fired on Raymond Road, Stairfoot, Barnsley.

The arson attacks were reported to South Yorkshire Police.
