A POLICE probe is under way into the shooting of a protected buzzard in Dronfield.
The bird was found dead in a tree in the Hundall area of the town by dog walkers.
A Derbyshire Police spokeswoman said: “The species is protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and it is an offence to kill, injure or take a buzzard, or to take, damage or destroy an active nest or its content.
“Officers want to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area on or around Saturday, March 31.”
