A SOUTH Yorkshire businessman was forced to hand over substantial amounts of cash after being held up at knifepoint in the presence of his children.
Police today appealed for information after the Doncaster are family were victims of an armed burglary last Friday in broad daylight.
It is believed that three men driving a black car pulled into a field behind a property on Spring Lane, in Sprotbrough, about 5.45pm.
Two male occupants of the car wearing balaclavas entered the garden of the house.
The homeowner, a 44-year-old man, confronted the two men who then threatened him with a knife before leading him back into the house and demanding money, all in front of the man’s wife and three children.
The men are believed to have left the house with a quantity of cash before making off towards Long Lane.
A short time later, the two suspects were picked up by a white Ford Transit van before being dropped outside the Sun Inn on Barnsley Road, Doncaster, say police.
The driver of the van, a 22-year-old man from Woodlands, has been arrested and is helping officers with the investigation. Enquiries are ongoing.
