A 26-year-old woman has been sentenced to eight months in prison after admitting her role in a hit and run collision that left Doncaster teen, Danielle Stoton (pictured), with serious brain injuries.

At a hearing at Sheffield Crown Court that concluded just a few moments ago, Judge Moore sentenced Sarah Livesey to the jail term.

Livesey was sentenced for a string of motoring offences relating to the incident including causing injury by dangerous driving, dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident.

Sentencing her, Judge Moore said it was one of the hardest cases he had ever had passed sentence on.

Livesey pleaded guilty to the charges at a hearing earlier this year, following the crash in Hatfield Lane, Armthorpe on August 10, 2014 which left 19-year-old Danielle Stoton with life-threatening injuries.

She has also been banned from driving for two years.
