ARMED police forced a busy Sheffield road to be closed after marksmen swooped on a car.
The incident happened on City Road, between Wulfric Road and Cradock Road, and the street was blocked with police cars, holding up trams and traffic.
An eyewitness said the incident started at about 10.20am, lasting for 40 minutes, and that officers appeared to be surrounding a car.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “This morning, officers stopped a vehicle on City Road, Sheffield.
“No arrests have been made and the incident has concluded.
“The road was temporarily closed but has now been re-opened.”
