A BOY who damaged two trucks has apologised - and avoided a court case.
The 13-year-old, who was aged 12 at the time, scratched and dented two lorries parked off Heather Lane, Hathersage.
He had been moving pallets past the vehicles to play on when he damaged them.
He was dealt with under the restorative justice scheme, which takes the views of victims into account and is aimed at dealing with minor crimes swiftly.
PCSO Anthony Boswell, of Hathersage safer neighbourhood policing team, said: “The boy admitted moving the pallets, but hadn’t meant to damage the trucks. He just acted before he had thought through the consequences.
“Having discussed it with the victim, the boy and his family it was agreed to resolve the issue in this way.”
