A BOY aged just 11 has been arrested by police on suspicion of arson after a barn fire in Rotherham.
The youngster was quizzed after firefighters were called to a devastating blaze at Highfield Farm, off Melton High Street, West Melton, last Thursday. When crews arrived they found around 250 tonnes of hay and two grain silos burning.
Firefighters battled through the night and throughout the following morning to prevent the flames spreading.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police have arrested an 11-year-old boy, from the local area, on suspicion of arson.
“He has been released on bail while officers continue with their investigation.”
