Plans to improve a park in Barnsley are on hold after an arson attack caused £6,500 of damage.
The swings at Millennium Green, Grimethorpe, were set on fire and the park has been targeted by vandals several times in the last 12 months.
An aerial runway damaged to the tune of £4,000 was replaced, but is now being removed after being vandalised for a second time, because Barnsley Council cannot afford to replace it.
Resurfacing work and plans to removed old bins and equipment are now on hold.
Coun Roy Miller said: “We have invested a lot of money in these facilities. In the current economic climate we just don’t have the cash to keep repairing or replacing damaged equipment.”
