Barnsley FC captain Stephen Dawson is one of seven footballers arrested by police over spot-fixing allegations.
The 28-year-old, who joined the Reds in January 2012 and has made 78 appearances for the club, was arrested along with six players from Preston North End.
They are in addition to six players arrested in December last year over the allegations.
A statement by the National Crime Agency, who made the arrests, said: “In December 2013 the NCA arrested six men in connection with an investigation into individuals suspected of conspiracy to commit acts of bribery and money laundering relating to conduct during football matches.
“Officers from the NCA have been actively pursuing a number of lines of inquiry in this ongoing investigation.
“The NCA have re-arrested the six original suspects based upon new evidence, along with a further seven footballers suspected of potential involvement.”
