DETECTIVES investigating an arson attack which destroyed a barn at a Rotherham farm have called the offence ‘malicious’.
The blaze at Brecks Lane Farm, Rotherham, took nearly two days to fully extinguish after thousands of litres of diesel went up in flames. Farm machinery and other equipment were also destroyed.
Witnesses told police they saw two men running from the burning barn towards Herringthorpe at around the time it went up in flames.
Det Con Scott Walker said: “Thankfully, no-one was hurt during the fire and there was no livestock contained within the buildings, which are now completely destroyed and will have to be demolished.
“I urge anyone with information about this incident to contact the police immediately and ensure these reckless criminals, who care little for the safety of others, do not strike again.”
