AN ARSON attack which destroyed two barns on a Rotherham farm caused £2 million worth of damage.
The blaze broke out at Brecks Lane Farm, East Herringthorpe, at 4.20pm on Saturday and is believed to have been started deliberately.
Fire crews spent all weekend tackling the blaze and ensuring it did not re-ignite.
The barns contained farm machinery, 2,500 litres of diesel, fertiliser, and other farming equipment, but livestock were saved.
Helen Smith, who owns the farm, said the fire was “devastating”.
“It was unbelievable. I could smell something burning and went around the corner and saw a fire.
“I jumped on a tractor and backed it out as fast as I could. As soon as I did that, the roof collapsed. It’s devastating.”
