a MAN remains in a critical condition in hospital after he was attacked minutes into the New Year.
Iain Eldridge, 35, was with his girlfriend outside a hairdresser’s shop in Station Road, Bawtry, near to The Penny Farthing pub, just after midnight on Sunday when he was approached by an unknown man and assaulted in what appears to be an unprovoked attack. The offender then fled.
Mr Eldridge was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary but later transferred to Sheffield’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital with a severe head injury.
His condition was yesterday described as critical.
The offender is described as white, of stocky build, in his late 20s to early 30s and with short, blond hair.
