Arson attacks on buildings and van in Sheffield 'could be linked'

Police are hunting for arsonists who set fire to a van and two buildings in one night in Sheffield.

The attacks happened in the early hours of Saturday (September 24) in the Shiregreen and Southey Green areas.

The first happened in Fircroft Avenue between 3.20am and 3.50am, when a building was set alight.

At about the same time, officers received a separate report of arson at a property in Sicey Avenue, where someone smashed a window before setting the building alight.

A short time later, between 4.30am and 5am, a Volkswagen van parked in Crowder Avenue, Southey Green, was set on fire.

A South Yorkshire Police Spokesman said: "Nobody was injured during any of the incidents and at this time, officers are exploring the possibility that the incidents may be linked."
