A DAY of action was held in Barnsley by the town’s police and council officers in a crackdown on anti-social behaviour.

They raided homes and found drug paraphernalia at a property on Wilthorpe Crescent, Wilthorpe, and a small amount of cannabis and scales were found at a house on Ballfield Avenue, Kexbrough.

Eight cannabis plants and a hydroponics set-up was also discovered at a property on Rowland Road, Old Town, and a woman was arrested on suspicion of cultivation.

Sergeant Andy Bagshaw, from the Darton, Dodworth and Penistone Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I am really pleased with the results from these action days.

“Working together with our partners we have been able to tackle criminal activity as well as a number of issues in the area that effect everyday life.

“I hope to continue these action days and ask the public to contact us if they have any concerns in their area.”

Mark Miller, from the police team, said: “Feedback from all partner organisations who worked with the Safer Neighbourhood Team has been extremely positive.”
