SIX fire crews spent more than eight hours dealing with a fire in a Sheffield woodland.
Crews were alerted shortly before 2pm on Tuesday when smoke was spotted coming from within Wharncliffe Woods in Wharncliffe Side. The last firefighters left the scene at around 10pm.
At the height of the fire there were six appliances involved.
Train drivers using a line which serves the steelworks in Stocksbridge were alerted to the fire but the line remained open.
