MORE than eight tonnes of titanium caught fire in a blaze at a South Yorkshire industrial unit.

The fire broke out at SHS Freight Services on Chesterton Road, Eastwood, Rotherham.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet to douse neighbouring buildings with water in a bid to prevent the flames from spreading.

A fire service spokesman said the flames affecting the titanium burned themselves out after two hours.

The fire at 10.50am on Thursday is believed to have started accidentally.
