A MAN airlifted to hospital after a three-car collision off the M1 motorway in South Yorkshire is recovering from his injuries.
The man was driving a Skoda Fabia along the A616, just off the M1 at junction 35a, when he was involved in a collision as he was stationary and waiting to turn right into Tankersley Golf Club.
It was reported to police that a black Volvo lorry struck the Skoda from behind, causing it to collide with a black BMW 520 travelling in the opposite direction.
The Skoda driver – a Sheffield man – was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance and was initially thought to have sustained life threatening injuries.
But police have now revealed that he was not as seriously injured as first thought, and he is now making a good recovery.
Witnesses to the crash are asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 0114 220 2020.
