THREE people were injured after a car ‘lost control’ of the road and drove into a watercourse.

One 19-year-old Swinton woman, a rear-seat passenger in the blue Peugeot 106, was detained in Rotherham Hospital with serious injuries to her back and pelvis.

The male driver, aged 17 and from Swinton, went to hospital with minor injuries as did a 19-year-old passenger from Kilnhurst.

The collision on Mangham Road, Parkgate, Rotherham, was reported at 11.24pm on Thursday.

A police spokesman said it was thought the car had ‘lost control and careered across the road” before going down an embankment and into a watercourse with two feet of water.

Witnesses, nearby businesses with CCTV footage of the incident or those who saw the car being driven before the collison, can call police on 101.
