CREATIVE Sheffield residents who make and design their own greetings cards are going shopping for materials to make more of their ideas a reality – after receiving a £1,000 grant from housing management firm Sheffield Homes.

Around 20 people are members of Jordanthorpe Craft Group, who have created 6,000 cards in the seven years the group has been running.

The group design and make cards for all occasions from Christmas to birthdays and christenings.

Members use a variety of techniques including stamping, decoupage, painting, pastels and inks and even pen individual verses.

The group, who meet at Meadowhead Christian Fellowship Church, now get on so well they even go on holidays together.

Founder member Glennys Walker said: “The grant from Sheffield Homes will be a great help and will be put towards buying materials and tools for us to use. Many of our members are very creative and come up with amazing ideas. This support means we can put our ideas into practice.”

The money was awarded by the Your Community, Your Choice’ initiative, run by Sheffield Homes and city council.
