SHEFFIELD armed forces radio presenter Hal Stewart has spent six weeks broadcasting in Afghanistan – where he enjoyed a family reunion.

Hal, from Millhouses, who works for the British Forces Broadcasting Service, was stationed at Camp Bastion.

By chance, Hal’s cousin, Major Mark Dornan, 37, was in Afghanistan at the time. Mark, who grew up in Dore and attended Westbourne Preparatory School and Sheffield Hallam University, is in the Royal Artillery.

Blades fan Hal said: “I knew Mark was in Afghanistan, but it was still a surprise when I spotted him in the cookhouse. We joked it says a lot about our family that it takes a war zone to bring us together.”
