A woman allegedly plied with alcohol as a child and sexually abused told a court: “My innocence had gone.”

The woman, now 28, told police Ishtiaq Khaliq, aged 33, of Carlisle Street, Rotherham, sexually abused her in ‘Boots alleyway’ near the town centre store when she was ‘13 or 14’.

She told police she had drank around one litre of strong cider.

“He just walked away and carried on like nothing had happened,” she told officers.

“He didn’t go near me after, it felt like he thought I was dirty. The next time I saw him he blocked me and thought I was scum. After that I backed off from town.”

The woman, who said she would sometime meet Khaliq in Clifton Park bandstand, said he had ‘seen her in her school uniform’.

Khaliq denies one charge of rape and three of indecent assault against three women.

Eight men are on trial over historic child sexual exploitation offences in the town between 1999 and 2003 involving three teenage girls

The woman said her mum contacted social services for help when she was a teenager.

“She used to know cars would come and were picking me up and stuff like that – she couldn’t do nothing.”

She told police: “She tried to keep me in but I would climb out of the window.”

She said of the abuse: “It was like a walk in the park. It felt like I deserved it.

“As I was growing up I started to thinking ‘god’. It’s sick how they got off on me.

“I felt like I didn’t belong at school.

“My innocence had gone. I was in cars with people who were old enough to be my dad.”

The complainant gave evidence from behind a screen after the police interview was played to the court.

She denied she had come forward after discovering the defendant had been charged in connection with two other complainants.

She said: “How would I know his name is Ishtiaq Khaliq? I just knew him as little Ishy.”

Khaliq is on trial with seven other men.

Sageer Hussain, 30, of Clough Road, Rotherham, denies four rapes and one indecent assault.

Mohammed Whied, 32, of Psalters Lane, Rotherham, denies one count of aiding and abetting rape.
