Couple to exchange their vows in a tent during Sheffield Pride festival

A COUPLE are exchanging vows at a ceremony with a difference on Saturday - in a tent in the middle of the Sheffield Pride festival!

Bella Parker, aged 25, and Lorna Gray, 26, will declare their love for each other with a wedding blessing in the Rainbow Wedding Tent at the festival in Endcliffe Park on Saturday - an event which last year attracted around 5,000 revellers.

The marquee has been organised by Sheffield wedding planning firm Boho Weddings and Events, based in Rivelin, and is billed as the city's only gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender wedding fair.

Bella, who works as a medical receptionist, says she is feeling nervous about the big day.

She said: "It's quite a strange setting, and there will be a lot of people there, but I think it will go well. I'm really looking forward to it."

Bella met Lorna, a model, through friends when they were both aged 19. They have been together for two-and-a-half years.

They live together at Long Eaton, Derby. Bella said: "We hung around with the same friendship group and went out clubbing together in our younger years."

Bella says she is in favour of civil partnerships as they make gay relationships "more official".

She added: "If you didn't have civil partnerships you would have nothing to show for it."

"I just hope people aren't really rowdy on the day, and drunk, and don't take it seriously."

The couple have already got their wedding dresses planned - Bella will be wearing a long, strapless corset dress, while Lorna will be sporting a similar, shorter number.

The Rainbow Wedding Tent runs from 1pm to 7pm, with free entry. Bella and Lorna's ceremony will be held at 5.30pm.

Attractions include interactive displays from wedding suppliers, legal advice from law firm Irwin Mitchell, and a photo booth area where visitors can dress up and have their picture taken.

Live entertainment will include performances from swing singer Chris Heathcote and the Salwa Belly Dancers.
